Dress Code & Standards

Moortown is a traditional Members’ Club. We ask all Members, Guests and Visitors to dress smartly at all times, with attire that reflects the culture of the Club.

On the Course

All players are expected to always maintain a high standard of dress. Only recognised golfing attire may be worn on the golf course.

Player’s shirts that are cut to be tucked in must be tucked in, and if shorts are worn, they must be tailored.

The following types of attire are not permitted on the Course or Clubhouse – Blue denim jeans, cargo trousers/shorts, tracksuits, sleeveless basketball-style t-shirts, football/rugby shirts (or similar), t-shirts, flip flops, sliders or gym trainers.

In the Clubhouse

Hats and soiled/wet clothing must be removed before entering any lounge or bar area of the Clubhouse.

Foyer & Mackenzie Bar

Smart golfing attire as worn on the Course is acceptable, including clean golf shoes with dimples or soft spikes. If you change out of golf shoes, please note that flip flops, sliders or gym trainers are not permitted.

Lounge & Dining Room

The same standards are the Foyer & MacKenzie Bar applies, with the exception of golf shoes that are not permitted at any time.

If a formal dinner is taking place in the dining room, prize presentation or specific event then men must wear a jacket and tie and commensurate attire for women, unless otherwise informed.

Mobile Phones & Electrical Devices

All golfers are advised to carry a mobile phone whilst on the golf course, however, they may only be used when consulting the R&A App for the Rules of Golf, course planners or in emergency situations and must remain in silent mode.

In the Clubhouse calls cannot be made or received anywhere other than in the locker rooms or in the car park. The only exception is that mobile phones or electronic devices may be used in a private room for the purposes of business meetings, as long as the use thereof does not disturb another person.

The use of other electronic devices is permitted in all areas of the Clubhouse but must remain in silent mode.

Smoking & Vaping Policy

Smoking and Vaping is prohibited inside the clubhouse and on the terrace. It is permitted only at designated benches around the 18th green, on the car park and on the course (unless a temporary ban is in place due to dry conditions).

• In inclement weather, smokers and vapers may shelter under the canopy on the terrace, however they must be mindful to limit any smoke entering the clubhouse.
• Smokers must dispose of vapes, cigarettes and cigar ends responsibly.
